Our Process
1. The first important step in creating your web presence is to secure
an effective address for your web site, a name such as "MarleyFlowers.com"
that customers can use to access your site. If you have not already secured a web
site address (otherwise known as a domain name), Addison Technologies will help
you identify several memorable and creative names that
are available for use and will
properly identify your organization online. We will register domain names on your
behalf (at an industry standard cost of $35 per year per domain) or transfer an
existing domain that you own over to our servers at no extra charge.
2. The next step in hosting a web site is to configure the web server, the
powerful computer hardware and software that will run your web site. Addison Technologies
charges a minimal one time setup fee to cover the time spent setting up your site on our web server
and/or transferring content from your existing web site onto our server,
however, we will currently waive this charge if you have paid for a full year of
hosting. If you require a dedicated
server, we will build a new machine, from scratch, to meet your specifications.
3. Addison Technologies provides a Site Management Center to all of our
hosting clients.This Site Management
Center (or "SMC") is a hidden, password protected area of your web
site that
gives authorized members of your organization access to web visitory
statistics, site filesize
reports, and a Work Request form, a simple web form
that allows you to easily
contact our staff to request content updates or
redesign work for your site. With the
Mid and High Level Tier Plans, you will also be given email accounts using your
domain name (for example
frank.marley@MarleyFlowers.com)
and a web based program for sending and receiving email messages.
4. Addison Technologies has worked hard to provide a
secure, high-performance environment for our clients' web sites.
Our sites are hosted on Dell PowerEdge 2400
servers running Windows 2000 Server, connected to the Internet on a dedicated
UUNet T1 connection. A UPC backup power supply and RAID 5 hard drive redundancy
allow us to maintain complete up-time even in the event of a hard drive failure
or brief power outage. In addition, client web sites are backed up to an
external storage device daily. All of the eCommerce sites we host utilize
Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 as the database engine.
